Retained search project for a Fintech company

The challenge:

Our client, a fast-expanding Fintech company with strong regional presence in APAC, was starting a new business in Hong Kong and needed to hire a Risk Director that would fit in a start-up environment. The ideal candidate would have experience in communicating with local regulators and building the risk framework, policy, procedures, and systems from scratch. The start-up had engaged recruitment agencies before without success and wanted a partner with not just a strong network in Hong Kong, but also who could act as their brand ambassador.

Our solution:

We began our retainer with a market map of their competitors’ employees who met the criteria, presenting a shortlist and arranging interviews of the best. While that process was underway, we then extended our search, meeting and managing candidates, to provide a follow-up list of more candidates who had the required skillsets. When the ideal candidate was chosen, we managed the full offer process on the company’s behalf.

The outcome:

  • The Risk Director joined the company within four months of us beginning our retained search

  • We communicated the full employer proposition and culture to the candidates with the client happy with our role as brand ambassador

  • They were so happy with our solution that they have since opened up more roles in Corporate Governance to us
