Job description

Our client is the world leader in providing an integrated sales solution that increase business' sales with creative innovation. The company operates internationally with various business units Headquartered in Australia.

 

Head of Accounting accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. A successful Head of Accounting combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts, establishing financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting information. We are also looking for someone to work closely with our management team.

The ideal candidate has also experience collaborating and/or managing a team of accountants and junior accountants.

 

Responsibilities

· Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including:

· month and end-year process

· accounts payable/receivable

· cash receipts

· general ledger

· payroll and utilities

· treasury, budgeting

· cash forecasting

· revenue and expenditure variance analysis

· capital assets reconciliations

· trust account statement reconciliations,

· check runs

· fixed asset activity

· debt activity

· Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable

· Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results

· Analyze financial information and summarize financial status

· Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending

· Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures

· Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers

· Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process

· Provide input into department's goal setting process

· Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule

· Assist with tax audits and tax returns

· Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance

· Support month-end and year-end close process

· Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

· Ensure compliance with GAAP principles

· Liaise with management to improve financial procedures

· Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements

· Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles

· Coordinate and complete annual audits

· Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions

· Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy

· Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions

The successful applicant will need to have:

· Proven experience as an accounting supervisor, chief or senior accountant

· Solid knowledge of basic accounting procedures

· In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

· Familiarity with financial accounting statements

· Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process

· Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like QuickBooks

· Advanced MS Excel skills

· Accuracy and attention to detail

· Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills

· BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant

· Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) will be preferred
