Head of AI Engineering, Asia

We are partnering with a leading Financial Services organisation to appoint a Head of AI Engineering, Asia within its regional Data & AI function.

This is a senior technology leadership role responsible for how AI solutions are designed, engineered, deployed and scaled across multiple Asian markets. The position combines strong hands-on technical leadership with team management, architecture ownership and senior stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, engineering and deployment of enterprise-scale AI solutions, including machine learning, Generative AI, LLM applications, RAG and advanced AI workflows.
• Define AI engineering standards, architecture patterns and reusable frameworks that can be deployed across multiple markets.
• Lead and develop a regional team of AI Engineers, Solution Architects and Platform Engineers, including senior technical leads managing their own squads.
• Provide technical leadership across complex AI implementations and act as a senior escalation point for engineering and architecture decisions.
• Drive the productionisation of AI through strong MLOps, LLMOps, CI/CD, monitoring, evaluation and observability practices.
• Establish scalable approaches for integrating AI solutions with enterprise platforms, APIs and existing technology environments.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies, frameworks and orchestration approaches and determine how they should be adopted across the organisation.
• Partner closely with senior stakeholders across Technology, Business, Risk, Compliance and Architecture to deliver AI safely within a regulated environment.
• Drive engineering productivity through AI-assisted software development, reusable assets and modern development tooling.
• Ensure security, responsible AI, data privacy and governance controls are embedded into AI platforms and solutions from design through to production.

Requirements

• Significant experience across AI/ML, software engineering or AI engineering, with a strong track record leading engineering teams.
• Demonstrable experience delivering Generative AI / LLM solutions into enterprise production environments.
• Strong knowledge of modern AI engineering technologies including Python, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, CI/CD, vector databases, RAG, LLM APIs, evaluation and observability tooling.
• Strong understanding of MLOps and LLMOps, including model monitoring, automated evaluation, tracing, guardrails and production reliability.
• Experience designing enterprise AI platforms, engineering standards, reference architectures or production operating models.
• Strong solution architecture and systems integration experience, including APIs and complex enterprise environments.
• Experience working within a large, regulated Financial Services environment would be highly advantageous.
• Proven ability to combine technical credibility with senior stakeholder communication and influence.
• Experience leading regional or multi-market technology teams would be beneficial.
