Market Data Support Engineer - Contract- Banking- 60k

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day production support for market data platforms in a global environment.
• Monitor systems, investigate incidents, and perform root cause analysis to ensure service stability.
• Conduct daily operational checks, including Ready for Business and End-of-Day procedures.
• Manage support requests, incident tickets, and escalations from users and internal technology teams.
• Work closely with feed integration and infrastructure teams to validate changes and support system rollouts.
• Participate in weekend support activities, system checkouts, and disaster recovery testing.
• Maintain and enhance monitoring processes and operational tooling.
• Liaise with external vendors and exchanges to troubleshoot market data and connectivity issues.
• Support the implementation and deployment of new products, services, and platform enhancements.
• Collaborate with global teams as part of a follow-the-sun support model.
• Maintain operational documentation, procedures, and technical standards.
• Track incidents, problems, and project work through Jira and other workflow management tools.
• Develop and maintain scripts and automation to improve operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems and command-line tools.
• Experience with Unix shell scripting; knowledge of Python or Perl is advantageous.
• Familiarity with troubleshooting tools and utilities such as grep, awk, and system log analysis.
• Understanding of Unix administration, security, and system operations.
• Experience supporting networked applications and real-time messaging technologies.
• Knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, UDP, Multicast, and SNMP.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
• Ability to work in a shift-based support environment and participate in on-call rotations when required.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in production support, application support, or incident management environments.
• Exposure to financial markets or market data platforms.
• Understanding of asset classes such as Equities, Futures, Options, Fixed Income, and Mutual Funds.
• Knowledge of market data concepts including quotes, order books, Level 1 and Level 2 market data.
• Experience working with market data vendors such as Bloomberg, Reuters, or exchange connectivity platforms.
