ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is a leading global multinational organization looking for a Security SRE / Automation Engineer to join its Security Automation team.

This role focuses on the operational health, reliability, resilience, and continuous improvement of security automation platforms and services supporting global security operations.

This is an engineering-focused position rather than a traditional support role. You will perform technical root-cause analysis, troubleshoot integrations, modify automation, improve observability, and implement sustainable fixes that increase platform stability and operational efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own the operational health and reliability of the security automation environment during assigned operational hours.

• Monitor automation services and respond to failed, stalled, delayed, or degraded workflows.

• Troubleshoot production issues across Cortex XSOAR, integrations, APIs, and supporting platforms.

• Investigate root causes of recurring operational failures and implement long-term corrective actions.

• Develop and enhance playbooks, integrations, scripts, and automation components when engineering improvements are required.

• Improve monitoring, alerting, health checks, and observability for critical automation workflows.

• Analyze automation performance metrics and identify reliability risks.

• Create and maintain operational runbooks and troubleshooting documentation.

• Partner with SOC analysts, incident responders, and engineers to prioritize and resolve operational issues.

• Participate in root-cause analysis and post-incident reviews for significant operational events.

• Identify opportunities to reduce operational overhead through automation and process improvement.

• Support platform upgrades, maintenance activities, deployment efforts, and infrastructure changes.

• Utilize Git and GitLab for source control, deployment management, and change management.

• Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools such as Kiro, Claude, Codex, and similar technologies to improve troubleshooting and operational efficiency.

• Contribute to reliability standards covering monitoring, failover, retries, timeout handling, and operational resilience.

• Participate in global on-call coverage supporting critical automation services.

• Maintain documentation related to system behaviour, operational procedures, dependencies, and support processes.

• Cross-train with team members to ensure operational expertise is distributed across the organization.

REQUIREMENTS

• 8+ years of experience in production engineering, automation engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, security engineering, or a related field.

• Experience supporting business-critical production systems.

• Hands-on experience with Cortex XSOAR or a comparable automation platform.

• Strong Python scripting and automation experience is a must.

• Experience troubleshooting APIs, integrations, authentication mechanisms, system dependencies, and production services.

• Experience with monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability platforms.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to independently investigate complex production issues.

• Understanding of enterprise security operations, incident response processes, and security automation workflows.

• Experience using Git and GitLab-based development workflows.

• Strong documentation and communication skills.

• Ability to coordinate technical activities across global teams and time zones.

• Willingness to participate in a global on-call rotation.
