Backend Engineer (12 months Contract)

Location: Hong Kong

Contract Duration: 12 months

Hybrid model: 3 days onsite (Tuesday–Thursday), 2 days remote

About the Role

This role is supporting critical backend systems and integration work within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and REST APIs
• Work on system integration across internal and external platforms
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile or hybrid delivery methodologies
• Support database design, optimisation, and SQL query development
• Partner with regional and offshore teams to deliver scalable solutions

Requirements

Must-Have:

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Technical Analyst, Backend Engineer, or in a hybrid technical role
• Strong understanding of REST APIs and system integration patterns
• Solid experience with relational databases and SQL
• Proven ability to work within Agile or hybrid delivery frameworks
• Trilingual fluency in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin (spoken and written)

Nice-to-Have:

• Background in retirement, pension, MPF, or financial services systems
• Exposure to Indonesia or Southeast Asia market systems
• Experience writing functional specifications and data flow diagrams
• Track record of collaborating with regional and offshore delivery teams
